Corky Jewell

Vice Chairman

During his career he served in patrol posts in Northwest Georgia, several statewide assignments and at Department of Public Safety Headquarters.  He was selected for the planning and command staffs for the 1988 Democratic Party National Convention in Atlanta, the 1996 Centennial Atlanta Olympic and Paralympic Games, the 2004 Sea Island G8 Summit of Economic Nations and two Super Bowls.  After the September 11 Terror Attacks, he was a founding member of the Georgia Homeland Security Task Force with primary responsibility of vetting intelligence reports on possible threats to critical infrastructure in Georgia and providing interoperable public safety communications throughout Georgia and surrounding states.

Corky is a graduate of Georgia State University’s Georgia International Law Enforcement Exchange program which conducts on-site studies of best practices of foreign law enforcement agencies.  He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and he is a graduate of the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police Command College program.  He is also certified as a general instructor by the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council.

Corky is a past Chairman and Vice-chairman of the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit Children’s Advocacy Center and he currently serves as Treasurer.  He is an elected member and current Chairman of his local public school board and serves on the board of directors of numerous civic and charitable organizations in Northwest Georgia.  After his retirement from full-time law enforcement, Corky has been employed by several private organizations as a law enforcement subject matter expert.
